My student, Hannah W. shared this idea with me. She and her sisters make these coasters based on a pattern their grandmother gave them. Thank you, Hannah!
Supplies:
5″ squares of the following fabrics:
Three 5″ squares blue fabric
Three 5″ squares red
One 5″ square white polar fleece for lining
Assemble:
Layer the fabrics in this order: one Red square, one polar fleece square, one blue square.
Fold two squares of blue and two of red in half and iron
Place Blue halves on top of blue square, folded edges facing one another
Weave folded red squares over and under the blue squares in opposite directions
Sew:
Straight stitch 1/4″ all the way around the coaster.
Clip corners
Turn right side out
Make a set for an adorable Christmas gift!
